    Data Sources and Use

    Satellite detections: NASA FIRMS VIIRS and MODIS retrievals, refreshed hourly.

    Incidents and perimeters: NIFC/IRWIN incident data, refreshed hourly.

    Smoke and wind: NOAA HRRR Smoke forecast, refreshed every six hours.

    PCT smoke: HRRR near-surface smoke sampled at Pacific Crest Trail Association mile markers (CC BY 4.0).

    PCT closures: Pacific Crest Trail Association closure and alert locations. Automated PCTA refreshes are currently blocked by their security service, so this layer uses a saved official snapshot; verify conditions directly with PCTA. Mapped closure lines include a 10-mile buffer on either side.

    Fuel moisture: NFDRS/RAWS observations, refreshed with the six-hour data cycle.

    Air quality: AirNow official PM2.5 monitoring sites, refreshed hourly.

    Evacuations: Oregon Ready/Set/Go and participating California county feeds via Cal OES, refreshed hourly. Coverage is not comprehensive.
